This is my first fully colored comic! It's dated, but it's my first! I'm damn proud of myself for working so hard on it and attempting to learn to draw things I'd never drawn before. I did something scary, and it turned out to be okay. I made friends through this that I still have to this day. Without this comic, I would not be current me.
I hadn't realized all that I was getting into starting a comic. I'd already been a comic junkie for a few years, mostly reading spiderman and superman so I had some idea of what I wanted things to look like, but I didn't have the muscle memory yet. Over the course of drawing this, my style changed and I realized I wanted to do things differently- with a focus on a set design for the characters and the world around them. I decided to restart the comic after I'd learned a few new skills, so there are only 11 pages of this version.
Why did I start this? I'd originally intended to draw a single long page, but after the author received it and showed their enthusiasm with a few other people, I decided to try and keep going. It seemed to be a good exercise, and I enjoyed sharing excitement for the fandom with the community it was gathering. The more that I read SK, the more I began to endeavor to capture the story. I'd already had a fascination of the mysterious skeleton monsters and Gaster, so I was deeply curious where this story would go and what answers it would provide for a human turning into a monster. I was excited to capture that experience through my art.
I hope you enjoy the comic!
